Please be reminded that pursuant to Mayoral Executive Order 134, licenses/registrations and permits issued by the New York City Department of Buildings with an original expiration date on or after August 7, 2020, are not subject to automatic extensions resulting from the COVID-19 emergency, and thus, will expire on their original expiration date.
Licenses/registrations and permits that were originally due to expire before August 7, 2020, that is, between March 12, 2020, and August 6, 2020, were automatically extended in accordance with Mayoral Emergency Executive Order No. 107, subsequent orders, and Local Law 57 of 2020. These licenses/registrations and permits are due to expire pursuant to the rolling schedule charted below, as follows:

March 12, 2020 - March 31, 2020
April 1, 2020 – April 30, 2020
May 1, 2020 – May 31, 2020
June 1, 2020 – June 30, 2020
July 1, 2020 - August 6, 2020
New Expiration Date
September 30, 2020
October 31, 2020
November 30, 2020
December 31, 2020
January 31, 2021
The Department will not accept renewal applications in-person or by mail. Rather, renewal applicants are instructed to use their eFiling account to login to DOB NOW at www.nyc.gov/dobnow and select the BIS Options portal. An active eFiling account specific to the applicant’s license number is required for this purpose. You may visit www.nyc.gov/dobnowtips if you need to create an eFiling account.
