Executive Director and General Counsel
Last week, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced the launch of “The COVID-19 Report Card,” an online dashboard tracking in real-time COVID-19 infections and testing operations of every school and school district across the State of New York. Acting by Executive Order, the governor has directed schools, local health departments, labs and all testing sites to collect and report COVID-19 testing data for students and staff at each school in New York State, ensuring this information can be accurately presented on the online COVID-19 Report Card.
The COVID-19 Report Card is now live and will be populated with targeted data on a daily basis as schools reopen and districts, local health departments, and labs begin reporting their COVID-19 testing data to the New York State Department of Health, including:
The COVID-19 Report Card interface allows visitors to access data, including all reported positives, a breakdown of testing and results for students and teachers, and current enrollment, by entering their school or district name or address. The dashboard will feature seven-day trend charts so visitors can track results over time.
The critical linkage between keeping schools open and the vitality of the nascent economic recovery has been widely reported. According to Barron's, “the only thing standing between a recovery and a double-dip recession might be the back-to-school season.” Accordingly, we will continue to keep you abreast of all material developments in this regard as they arise.
